February 2019 Words & Vision Special Edition newsletter now online

UFV is Off the Rails: A Words and Vision Special Edition is now available on the FSA website at http://www.ufv-fsa.ca/words-vision/.

This brief and important issue will apprise you of some of the latest challenges faced by the FSA and its members. This document summarizes examples of strained FSA-UFV relations and serves as an important gauge of FSA-UFV relations as we enter bargaining.

Last week I had an opportunity to update the UFV Board of Governors on the FSA’s concerns with UFV administration, particularly focusing on student privacy and FSA financial charges issues. I asked the Board for help in directing their administration to work with us. Disappointingly, the Board Chair’s ensuing response erroneously interprets this as becoming “directly involved in the grievance process” rather than viewing this as an opportunity to tangibly confront growing tensions between the FSA and UFV administration. Despite my candor and willingness to seek out collaborative solutions, I feel that the FSA is not viewed as a critical stakeholder in the operations of UFV.

Fuel Up! Please pop by the FSA office to enjoy a free hot beverage using our new Keurig machine. Pick up your latest Words and Vision issue, a copy of your extended benefits booklet, or just grab a drink and go. Starting this week, my office will be open at 8 am on Thursdays for those seeking an early drink. Please come by my office in Abbotsford B375!
