Our Affiliations
In 1997 FPSE affiliated with the BC Federation of Labour (BC Fed), and in 2001 with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) through participation in NUCAUT (the National Union of Canadian Association University Teachers) which includes those unionized faculty associations participating in CAUT. The primary value of these affiliations is they allow post-secondary educators to determine BC Fed and CLC policy with respect to post secondary education, which in turn reinforces the messages we send to the Government of British Columbia and the Government of Canada. Since post-secondary education is so utterly dependent upon provincial and federal government policy, it is felt that our ability to speak to governments with one collective voice is crucial.
