Hello FSA members:
As promised in the FSA bulletin dated July 10, 2023, the by-election for FSA president will take place in the last week of September. The by-election will include the Joint Occupational Health & Safety co-chair position, committee positions, and 12 steward positions.

- 2 Chilliwack vacancies, 2-year terms (2023-2025)
- UFV-FSA Job Classification Audit Committee (JCAC)
- 1 vacancy, 3-year term (2023-2026)
- UFV-FSA Joint Professional Development committee (JPDC)
- 1 faculty vacancy, 3-year term (2023-2026)
- FPSE Disability Management & Rehabilitation representative (DMRC)
- 1 vacancy, 4-year term (2023-2027)
- Fraser Valley Labour Council
- 13 vacancies, 2-year term (2023-2025)
STEWARD POSITIONS
- 6 faculty vacancies, 2-year terms (2023-2025)
- 6 staff vacancies, 2-year terms (2023-2025)
Training and support are provided for all positions. All position terms (except for steward positions) are counted from June 1, 2023. Steward terms run from October 1-September 30). The position listed as a 1-year term is a temporary measure for 2023-2024 to ensure compliance with staggered executive terms as outlined in section in the FSA Constitution and Bylaws section 4.2(c) “Appointment and Removal of Directors and Officers and Their Duties and Powers.” Please see job descriptions attached or on our website.
Election timeline:
September 5th to September 22nd – nomination period (nomination instructions and form to be sent to member emails on September 5th)
September 26 to 28th – online voting
(As this is a by-election voting will be online only according to the FSA Constitution and Bylaws, Appendix A, Ballots)
September 29th – Notification of election results to all members via FSA bulletin

While this is a by-election, it’s important to make your voice heard. FSA president is a vital position that will guide our union for the next two years. All union positions are important, including and especially steward positions.
