A memo from UFV President James Mandigo permitting FSA members to leave work to attend this meeting is attached. UFV-FSA Collective Agreement, Article 2.5(b) “Association Activities”: “In any one (1) contract year, all members of the Association shall be allowed to attend up to two (2) general meetings of the Association during UFV hours.”
Election of Officers

The following EXECUTIVE POSITIONS are up for election this year (11 vacancies). Terms are 2 years unless otherwise stated. Members holding released positions are compensated at the rate of their regular UFV compensation. Note: 1 course release is equivalent to approximately 5 hours per week.
- President (fully released)
- Member Engagement Vice President (2 course releases)
- Grievances Vice President (2 course releases)
- Faculty Chief Steward (fully released)
- Secretary-Treasurer (2 course releases)
- Gender Equity Representative (1 course release available)
- Non-Regular Employees Representative (1 course release)
- Social Committee Chair ($1,500 annual stipend)
- Human Rights & International Solidarity Representative* (1-year term) (1 course release available)
- Decolonization, Reconciliation, and Indigenization Representative* (1-year term) (1 course release available)
- Occupational Health & Safety Co-Chair* (1-year term) ($500 annual stipend)
Training and support are available for all positions. All positions are 2-year terms, commencing June 1, 2023, unless otherwise indicated. Positions listed as 1-year terms is a temporary measure for 2023-2024 to ensure compliance with staggered executive terms as outlined in section in the FSA Constitution and Bylaws section 4.2(c) “Appointment and Removal of Directors and Officers and Their Duties and Powers”.

Nomination Instructions (Submissions & Deadlines)
Email nominations will close at 4 pm, May 23, 2023. Late submissions will not be accepted.
- Ensure both the nominator AND nominee have filled out the appropriate sections in the nomination form.
- Click the “Email Submit” red button on the bottom right of the form. This will prompt two emails to be sent (one to [email protected] and one to [email protected]).
If you have trouble with the form, you can write an email with your nomination to [email protected].
Email MUST include:
- Nominator's full name
- Nominee's full name
- Executive position being nominated for
- Copy the nominee on the email. Nominee MUST reply to [email protected] before the deadline to accept the nomination for it to be validated.
All nominees (including names of nominators) will be posted on the FSA website at the time they are received. Only validated nominations received by May 15 will be included in the AGM agenda package (to allow time for printing). A final call for nominations will be completed at the AGM.
Candidate Statements
Nominees for contested positions will have the opportunity to provide a 3-minute verbal statement at the AGM and will have the opportunity to provide a written statement prior to the election period. Statements must be emailed in PDF or MS Word format to [email protected] no later than 4pm, Thursday, May 25, 2023.
All statements will be posted on the FSA website together after 4pm, Thursday, May 25, 2023 and in the format they are received. Late submissions and/or changes will not be accepted.
Voting & Elections for Contested Positions
An election for contested positions (if necessary) will take place by electronic ballot May 29, 30, and 31. Ballots will be emailed to valid member UFV email accounts. In-person electronic polling stations (using an FSA computer) will be set up at the Chilliwack (A1316) and Abbotsford (B344) campus for elections from 9am–5pm. In-person voters must bring valid photo ID.
