Scholar Strike Canada: Statement of Solidarity
September 9, 2020
The FSA recognizes the gravity and importance of the Scholars Strike. The Scholar Strike is a labour action / teach-in / social justice advocacy happening on September 9th & 10th. We see, with some clarity the shared responsibility we have to end all forms of racism, anti-Black, and anti-Indigenous colonial policies, acts of violence and discrimination. We know too that these acts take place in our institutes of higher education.
The FSA affirms our colleagues right to advocate, protest, resist and insist upon meaningful changes that make our communities safer and better.
The FSA wholly supports faculty and staff to Participate in the Scholar’s Strike in whatever way they feel reflect their academic and personal principles. We encourage everyone to read the information found at the Scholar Strike website (https://scholarstrikecanada.ca) and /or sign the petition (https://scholarstrikecanada.ca/get-involved/).
In Solidarity,
This is a joint statement from the FSA Executive and RAN (Race Antiracism Network).
